Today, the New York Times posted this:
Biden Approved Secret Nuclear Strategy Refocusing on Chinese Threat
And Reuters posted news of the PRC’s response:
China says it is ‘seriously concerned’ about US nuclear strategic report
In his 2nd inaugural speech, President Lincoln said:
“On the occasion corresponding to this four years ago, all thoughts were anxiously directed to an impending civil war. All dreaded it, all sought to avert it. While the inaugural address was being delivered from this place, devoted altogether to saving the Union without war, insurgent agents were in the city seeking to destroy it without war—seeking to dissolve the Union and divide effects by negotiation. Both parties deprecated war, but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive, and the other would accept war rather than let it perish. And the war came.
Today, the Communist Party of China supports the aggressor in Ukraine and conducts war exercises against Taiwan. It replaces “civil war” with “war” and “Union” with “world order.” Erik Larson’s latest book, The Demon of Unrest, describes failures of political leadership to prevent the deadliest war in American history.
The United States has significant leverage over the Communist Party of China. Americans have got to demand that our political leaders use those advantages to push the CPC onto paths that avoid war.
